Reading these figures
- A figure describes its own period, which can be weeks or months ago. Check the date under each number.
- Monthly inflation here is calculated by the BIS from BPS’s price index. BPS publishes its own figure first; the BIS figure usually follows about a month later.
- The unemployment figure is an international estimate from the ILO, not BPS’s official rate.
- These are national figures. They do not describe one province, and they are not the prices this site collects at markets.
- Inflation measures a weighted basket of everything urban households buy, not only food. A staple can rise much faster or slower than inflation.
